WHEP Gateway PRO & Ultra — Feature Breakdown by Tier
Everything that unlocks at PRO (£45/mo) and Ultra (£75/mo) on the WHEP Gateway Linux appliance — updated for v1.10.1.
Starting Point: The 30-Day Trial
Every WHEP Gateway install starts with a 30-day trial of the full PRO tier. You get every PRO feature listed below from day one — no feature gating during the trial. After 30 days, the gateway locks unless a PRO or Ultra licence is activated.
WHEP Gateway is a self-contained Linux ISO appliance. Flash to a USB stick with Rufus or Etcher, boot on any x86_64 PC, and the setup wizard takes you through the rest. No Linux experience required.
Three channels running on one box — AJA SDI on H.264 NVENC, NDI sources on HEVC NVENC and H.264 QSV. Captured on an Intel Ultra 9 285 + NVIDIA RTX 2000E Ada workstation with an AJA Corvid 88.
What Comes With PRO
PRO is the gateway's professional tier — aimed at broadcasters, streaming producers, and AV integrators running live workflows.
Inputs — ingest from anywhere
OMT — the new low-latency replacement for NDI, auto-discovered on your LAN
NDI — full-bandwidth and HX, works with vMix, OBS, TriCaster, BirdDog, anything that speaks NDI
SRT — listener and caller, encrypted ingest from cellular bonders, remote encoders, OBS, FFmpeg
WHIP — sub-second WebRTC ingest from any compatible encoder or browser
Automatic software fallback if a hardware codec fails twice in a row
Per-channel bitrate, GOP, profile and tuning controls
Outputs — fan out to your existing pipeline
WHEP/WebRTC playback to any browser, sub-200ms glass-to-glass on a LAN
Built-in multiview — watch every active channel in a single browser grid, password-protected and shareable, replaces a rack of hardware monitors
NDI output — back into vMix, OBS, TriCaster, hardware multiviewers
OMT output — bridge legacy gear into modern OMT-native production switchers
RTMP and SRT restream — push the same transcoded stream straight to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, or a CDN
WHIP push output — deliver to any WHIP-compatible ingest endpoint
The browser multiview at 2x2 with four live tiles, each encoding the same source through a different codec path — AJA SDI to H.264 NVENC, NDI to AV1 NVENC, NDI to Intel Quick Sync, NDI to libx264. Green tally borders, layout selector top-right (1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4).
Scale

SDI Capture
Blackmagic DeckLink — full DeckLink range including DeckLink Quad and DeckLink 8K Pro, with embedded audio
AJA capture — Corvid, Kona and Io families, multi-channel SDI with embedded audio

One ISO, Same Hardware
Both tiers run from the same WHEP Gateway ISO. The licence key unlocks the appropriate feature set — no need to reinstall when upgrading from PRO to Ultra, or when extending an expired trial. Hardware requirements are identical: any modern x86_64 PC with at least 8 GB of RAM, an Intel, AMD or NVIDIA GPU for hardware encoding, and a gigabit Ethernet connection.
The Hardware telemetry tab. Live CPU, GPU, encoder, memory, fan and clock readings — 5-minute sparklines for everything. NVENC encoder utilisation visible while channels are running.
What's New in v1.10
Trial is now PRO — trial users get NDI/SRT/WHIP ingest, RTMP restream and 16 channels for 30 days, not just OMT
Hardened licence enforcement — clean lockout screen when a trial expires, no orphan FFmpeg processes
Debian 13 (Trixie) base + kernel 6.19 — modern hardware (Lenovo Z890, Arrow Lake-S, Intel I550c NICs) works out of the box
FFmpeg-OMT rebuilt against libvpx9, libsvtav1enc3 and oneVPL — cleaner Quick Sync path, faster AV1, AOM-compatible VP9
30-day PRO trial
Every feature unlocked from day one. No card required.
